A Scone fruit farm will face trial in June in connection with allegations it contravened gangmaster legislation
David Leslie, David Leslie Fruits Ltd and Viking Tunnels Ltd deny entering into an agreement with a gangmaster, Bulgaria- based Concordia Group Ltd, in contravention of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 between January 16 and August 17, 2008.
The charge states the farm was supplied with more than 250 Bulgarian workers by the company in contravention of section 6 of the legislation, which covers the prohibition of unlicensed activities.
The trial was scheduled for June 22 during a hearing in Perth Sheriff Court yesterday
