WHAT SHALL I BRING WITH ME?

Before you leave your home country we will provide you with information on what you need to bring with you, as a general rule most farms provide things like cutlery, crockery and pans, but sometimes you do need to bring them.

It can be cold in the UK so you need to make sure that you have suitable clothing to work in these conditions, remember the work does not stop just because it is raining and cold!

Sometimes you can buy items such as wellington boots and waterproofs from the farm, but it is often cheaper to bring it from home. If you do not bring everything you can usually pick up most items from large supermarkets, but remember the farm may not be able to do a shopping trip for a few days after you arrive.

As a minimum you should bring the following:

  • Warm sleeping bag (and pillow)
  • Wellington boots
  • Waterproofs (top and bottom)
  • Torch
  • Baseball cap (often have to cover your hair in the fields)

If you take medication you should try and bring enough for your stay in the UK, you may wish to bring some other basic medical supplies as they can be expensive in the UK (head ache tablets, nasel spray etc).

Some people bring food with them, remeber if you are flying there are restrictions on what food you can bring into the UK, the same applies with travelling by coach. Dry goods and tins of food are allowed but are very heavy!

Documents - you should remember to bring the following documents with you.

  • If you were issued with your original work card in your home country you MUST bring this with you (if not issued the work card will be waiting for you at your farm)
  • If you are a student you should bring a certificate (and translation) from your university confirming this, as it may delay when you have to start paying income tax.
  • Your ID card or Passport
  • If you have a driving license it might be useful to bring this with you.
