We will add to this section as we get questions from employers and job seekers, please contact us if you have a query.
Q: Can I get a job if I am from outside the EU?
A: Well it depends, we cannot help people to get work permits, if you have access to a visa that allows you to work in the UK and you can obtain this visa then we can put you forward for work. If you are from one of the countries that used to be involved in the SAWS programme, such as Russia or the Ukraine, then an am sorry but SAWS permits can only be issued to Romanian and Bulgarian nationals now.
Q: Can I get a job if I am a student in the UK?
A: If you are from an EU country (except Bulgaria and Romania) then yes you can get a job whilst you are a student in the UK, if you are from Bulgaria or Romania then you may be able to join the SAWS scheme, but there are limited spaces available. If you are not from the EU but you study in the UK and the institution you are attending is on the Register of Education and Training Providers and you meet the relevant immigration criteria then you may be able to work up to 20 hours a week during term time and full time in holidays.
Q: Am I guaranteed to get a job?
A: Sorry but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to find you a job, we will do our best but circumstances may mean that we cannot help you at a particular time.
Q: Can you get me a visa for the UK?
A: The only documents we can issue are work cards for the SAWS programme; we are not able to assist in any visa or work permit application other than our work as an Operator of the SAWS scheme.
Q: I am married to a Romanian or Bulgarian – can I also join the SAWS scheme?
A: We would need to know your circumstances, generally as a rule unless you hold a Bulgarian or Romanian passport you would not be eligible to take part in the SAWS scheme.
